Behavior:
It is colorless liquid. Its density is 0.6028 kg/L at 25℃. Its boiling point is –33.4℃ under standard atmosphere pressure. It is corrosive and poisonous, and easy to volatilize into ammonia. It is strongly irritating, and has corrosive and suffocating effects on human beings. In case its concentration is in the range of 15%-27% after it is mixed with air, mixed explosive gas will come into being.
Usage:
Liquid ammonia, with the content of nitrogen of 82.3%, may be used as manure. In chemical industry, it is used for making urea, bobbinite, plastrotyl, phospham, sodium carbonate, dynamite and nitric acid, as well as amine-based and acyl organic chemical products. Liquid ammonia is also used in such industries as metallurgy, medicine, foodstuff and processing, and as common refrigerant of large- and medium-sized refrigerating machines.
Packaging and storage:
Transported with tank cars for liquid ammonia; or filled in steel tanks for liquid ammonia.
